2018 Mariah Zinfandel

With access to renowned Zinfandel vineyard sites in premier growing regions across California, our pursuit to produce benchmark Zinfandel led us to this bottling from the high coastal mountains of Mendocino County, a wonderful counterpoint to our warmer climate Zinfandel expressions.

Mendocino Ridge is the world's first non-contiguous appellation that starts at an elevation of 1,200 feet, and the world-class Mariah Vineyard sits above the fog at 2,600 feet. Standing in the vineyard one can watch the breaking waves from the nearby Pacific Ocean, which deeply influences the climate in this growing region. The coastal mountain range exhibits heat during the day, allowing the sugar in the grapes to develop while the cool evenings aid in retaining the acidity in every berry.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Fresh hints of lilac and briary blackberry on the nose give way to a palate of raspberry, licorice and nutmeg spice, and a subtle hint of clay earth. Juicy with vibrant acidity, this Zinfandel is elegant with fine tannins leading to a smooth and velvety finish.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine pairs well with flank steak or duck breast complemented by sauces that are slightly acidic, lamb loin with olive tapenade, and aged goat Gouda.
