2018 Cortina Zinfandel

The core of this blend comes from Chen's Vineyard, planted in 1972, in addition to other quality Dry Creek Valley vineyards. This wine is named after the gravelly loam soils prevalent up and down this AVA. The flavor profile tends toward red fruit with balanced acidity and soft tannins - a uniquely elegant expression of Zinfandel.

Cortina

The stronger marine influence of Dry Creek Valley keeps it cooler than Alexander Valley. In a normal season, Cortina will ripen later due to the prevailing afternoon breezes that typically temper the summer's heat. With mornings shrouded in fog during the summer months, this ranch’s diverse soils consist primarily of a gravelly loam called Cortina.

Tasting Notes
Aromas of lilac, wild blueberry tart, cedar and moss give way to bright acidity on the palate. Cortina Zinfandel features vibrant blue fruit and a touch of white pepper that carries through to the wine’s long elegant finish.
Food Pairing Notes
A perfect partner to this wine would be a rack or leg of lamb. The richness of the wine and the combination of berry and spice notes would meld perfectly with the lamb’s rich and slightly gamey flavor.
